Event details
Ariake Gymnastics Centre
The 2019 Trampoline Gymnastics World Championships will serve as an Olympic test event in the brand new Ariake Gymnastics Centre, a venue located close to the Olympic Village and due to be used during the Olympic and Paralympic Games Tokyo 2020.
The Ariake Gymnastics Centre can seat up to approximately 12,000 spectators and will host Olympic Artistic, Rhythmic and Trampoline Gymnastics events, as well as Paralympic Boccia.
Originally designed to be temporary, it will now remain for a further 10 years to increase the legacy of the games for the city and residents. The building features wood as a primary material as a move towards sustainability and Japanese traditional style. The installation of huge 90-meter wooden roof beams – free of steel framework – has allowed the creation of a large open space without pillars in the centre of the venue, a feature which will benefit athletes and spectators alike.
