The president of the FIG Athletes Commission, Jani Tanskanen, has expressed his concern about a possible ban of all Russian athletes at the Rio Olympic Games.
The 1997 World champion on Horizontal Bar fully endorsed the position of FIG President Bruno Grandi, who underlined in a press release Monday his opposition to such a collective punishment.
“As a matter of fact, none of our Olympic athletes would want such a ban. We welcome our Russian competitors and would feel bad if any of them who have duly qualified and have not been subject to a positive doping control would be prevented from participating at the Games,” said Tanskanen.
